The Mae Hong Son Loop
You will be covering a distance of 670 kilometers during your journey from Chiang Mai to Mae Sariang, Mae Hong Son and Pai.
This is a bike trip that passes through the incredibly scenic mountainous regions of Thailand. The cool Me Hong Son province will enchant you along its way. You have to start from Chiang Mai and from there pass by the rugged wilderness and diverse landscapes of Northern Thailand. While you return to Chiang Mai from Pai you will cross over 1864 curves!
There will be hilly tribal villages, caves, waterfalls, Buddhist temples on the way and you must have kept time to explore every destination. If you wish you can also ride to the highest peak of Thailand the Doi Inthanon Mountain.
You must remember that roads are most treacherous and there are a number of twists and curves to pass through. It is best to ride in clockwise direction. For novice it is not advisable to take this trip at first. Try something that is easier.
The Nan Loop
Covering a distance of over 650 kilometers this trip will start from Chiang Mai but you will go to Phayao, then to Chiang Muan, Nan, and reach Chiang Mai again from Lampang. The main attraction along this route is the Than Tong waterfall, Doi Phuka National Park, Temples of Phayao, Santisuk Waterfalls, Mae Kachan hot spring, Big Reclining Buddha in Phrae and others. You should not miss the horse carriage rise at Lampang.
It is considered among one of the top 10 biking routes of the world. You will pass thorugh the most scenic beauties along the way on Highway No. 1148. There are many places out there in this route where the number of tourists are really less. That means you will get enough chance to enjoy the true Thailand culture in these villages that comes in your way.
